The performance and sealing of diesel generator sets are affected by valves. As one of the important components of the generator set, valves may encounter various problems under strong mechanical loads and high-temperature corrosion. Therefore, the correct installation of valves in diesel generator sets is an important prerequisite for ensuring their effectiveness. 1. After installing the new guide pipe into the cylinder head, use a reamer to correct the roundness and inner hole size of the guide pipe, so that the gap between the valve stem and the guide pipe hole meets the requirements of the diesel generator set manual. Do not machine the valve stem that has already been precision machined. During use, the clearance between the valve stem and the guide hole must not exceed the wear limit specified in the engine manual. Generally, as long as the clearance between the valve stem and the guide reaches 0.13 millimeters (for valves with a stem diameter equal to or less than φ 8 millimeters) or 0.16 millimeters (for valves with a stem diameter greater than φ 8 millimeters), the valve or guide needs to be replaced, otherwise it will cause early damage to the valve.

2. The valves of diesel generator sets of different models in the same series may differ, so do not mix them together.

3. For deformed or burned valve seat rings, they must be corrected by hinge and grinding, and cannot be repaired by simply rubbing against the valve. For valve seat rings that cannot be repaired, new parts should be replaced. The repaired or replaced seat ring mouth should be coaxial with the guide hole, with a coaxiality tolerance of 0.03 millimeters. The valve should be installed into the valve seat ring, and the sinking of the valve and cylinder head should meet the requirements specified in the engine manual.

4. Gently grind the valve and valve seat to ensure valve sealing. Coarse grinding abrasive should not be used during grinding. The contact area between the valve seat and the valve cone should be in the middle and lower part of the valve cone. The valve and seat ring must be sealed. Poor sealing will lead to a decrease in power of the generator set and early damage to the valve.

5. After grinding, clean the abrasive with kerosene and lubricate the valve stem and guide with clean engine oil.
